Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 Is Expected To Be Release In Early 2023 

The Drama Arthdal Chronicles the second season was confirmed to be renewed on February 12, 2020. the production timetable was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and was not included in the 2021 schedule, it was announced on June 11, 2020.

The second season, the webtoon, and the MMORPG were all set to debut in early 2023 it was revealed in February 2022. The script will once again be Written by Kim Young-Hyun and Park Sang Yeon and Kim Kwang-Sik will once again be in charge of the direction of the series. Lee Joon-gi and Shin Se-Kyung will take the replacement for Song Jong Ki and Kim Ji-won as the adult version of Eun Seom and Tan-ya, but Jan Dong-Gun and Kim Ok-Vin will return to the story, which is set more than ten years later of the preceding season. 

Filming of the second season of the drama began on August 23, 2022

Critical Praise Of The First Season

Reactions to the drama were inconsistent. Fans of Games Of Thrones attacked it for being kind of similar to that show, while critics said it used terrible CGI and had a predictable plot, was like other foreign fantasy dramas and movies of ancient times, and had a slow-paced plot that may bore viewers. The historical setting of the drama takes place in the bronze age, but the cast members seem to have armor and weapons which were not originated in that period, which was confusing to the viewers as well.

On the other hand, the drama receives praise for its captivating plot and distinctive settings, which touched on themes including religion and the definitions of a tribe, an alliance, and a nation.

"I wouldn't even think comparing our series to [ Games Of Thrones] and I don't think our intention is to create something similar" writer Park Sang Yeon stated. "I wouldn't attempt to suggest that I undertake anything resembling the program, and I don't believe the comparison is appropriate. He continued "We attempted to make a great series with our own fictional world and I hope you perceive our series for what it is.

In contrast to its massive budget, the series' audience numbers fell short of expectations, yet the first episode's rating of 6.7 percent and high of 8 percent put it ahead of all dramas in its time slot, even those shown by non-cable broadcasting stations. With its fourth episode, it hits the peak in rating on June 9 with an average rating of 7.7 percent countrywide, an increase of 1.3 percent from the previous night. The episode's national peak was 8.9 percent.  

Second Season Hope And Expectations

Even though the first season had critical praise, for its own reasons. The hopes are high, and a lot of expectations from its audience from the previous season. As it might attract a new audience with surprising events in the upcoming season two, the writer of the drama Park Sung Yeon will be considerate of the reaction from the audience and plan for season two accordingly, and director Kim Kwang-Sik will hopefully work on the pieces left in season one production as well.
