The Invitation: Summary And Review

The invitation is a 2022 American horror thriller Screen movie released on Aug 26, 2022, directed by Jessica N Thompson and written by Blair Butler and A Screen Gems/Sony pictures entertainment project that was created by producer Latchkey Emile Gladstone and Sam Raimi

The Invitation (summary)

Envie is very lonely and sad after the death of her mother and has no relatives, takes a DNA test and discovered that thing that she had no idea she has a long-lost cousin who invited her to England to meet. the rest of the family will be there to attend the lavish wedding in the English countryside which at first she refused but is later convinced to go, and there she is seduced by the aristocratic host and the two of them attracted  to each other 

As we see that Walter asked Evie to marry him that she takes it as a joke and says yes to him but later she realized it was not a joke to him After being framed by him  Evie finds out the truth that her family and Walter are actually a dragon, the son of the dragon she realized that she accidentally stepped into something  that would be not easy for her to get out, as she uncovers the family twisted history secrets and their intentions behind their sinful magnanimity she got nightmares 

         At the end of the movie, Evies agrees to marry Walter Because it is the only way she can overpower her captors by gaining his powers once all of that is finished  she sets fire to the altar Evie's tried to kill  Walter by stabbing him in the heart which immediately making him grow old though doesn't kill him and run away with the maid

Evie is attacked by Victoria but fortunate that the younger bride Lucy, does not think like her and got into a fight, Lucy sacrifices her life and impales Victoria and herself onto the spear of Saint George statue, knowing Walter. Evie killed Mr fields who confessed to killing Evie great grandfather 

 After the death of two vampire Brides, Dracula Walter comes back to kill Evie because of the stab in his chest he is not that capable to fight with his full energy, grabbed Evie's neck but Evie pushed him and throws him into the fire 

The Invitation Review

The Movie itself was a good watch and although the major part of it was only jumpscares that is ultimately the part of the problem since horror movies now repossessed heavily on the jumpscares on sudden horrors rather than the story itself. The movie maker is not fully to blame here as the horror stories are just pretty much washed out from creepy and gruesome murders to the tale of the good person turning out to be the accomplice or infected or possessed, the point is that these have been used so many times that the plot which is supposed to be scary feels forced, the same went for the invitation, the jumpscares didn't sit well with the critics and has led to the boredom rather than excitement

After watching the movie many people were conflicted. The plot and trailer never gave a clue of the movie being a vampire movie, but the quick turn of events of "everyone is a vampire now" didn't create the aura that it was intended to do.

Overall the movie even though rated not as well on rotten Tomatoes did build a wonderful experience and sometimes these cheesy horror movies are all that we need to get through the night.
